Where it all began… 1982 to 1992
Our History…A New Touch Florist

Marion Flaherty – Owner/Designer
Mom – 1982
Mom fell in love with the flower shop my brother, George, original opened in 1981.
Desiring to turn my brother’s dream into a growing business, she invited me to be her partner. Mom designed and oversaw floral care and all arrangements ordered.
During the 1980’s, Princess Diana and Prince Charles, were married. The brides we serviced in our area wanted to have bouquets as big as Princess Diana’s with lots of white lace and a unique veil. Mom, a seasoned seamstress, a was beginning to turn out shop into a bridal planner, and well as, creating handmade veils and headpieces for our bridal clientele.
Mom is instrumental at helping with plants and in the greenhouse @ Twelve Leaves Garden Nursery.

Denise Balog – Owner/Designer
Now as owner-operator of Twelve Leaves Garden Nursery, my original position at A New Touch Florist was as a designer.
Branching out to handle all the incoming orders, purchasing and payroll.
The office part of any business is the foundation of keeping a business healthy and growing, but my first love was in designing large pieces for weddings, banquets and funerals.
Now with the opportunity to build Twelve Leaves Garden Nursery, I’m excited to get my hands back into the lush green of flowers and plants.

George Flaherty – Delivery
Dad – 1982
Dad was one of our biggest supporters! Retired after 30 years at the local shipbuilding yard, he jumped in to serve as our delivery person.
When the shop was super busy during the holidays, Dad would supervise the extra drivers hired to help with deliveries.
Dad served in the Army during WWII, post war, the US Navy and was a Sgt Major in the National Guard. He was well able to keep us all marching!

A New Touch Florist
Store front of A New Touch Florist.
As a family working together daily to build A New Touch Florist, we were proud as can be when our new sign was installed above the shop window.

Linda – Designer
As the shop grew, we hired Linda as a floral designer. She was very creative and became one of the family immediately. Our time and season together will forever be special to us.

Christmas
Shop decorated for the Holidays.
A New Touch Florist has a large showroom and as our customer base grew so did our ability to stock and display more and more plant items for each occasion. Christmas was always a special time as friends and customers stopped by to send gifts and say “Hello.”
